Play of words, display of colours, sound and fury, signifying the infinite insignificance of an infinitesmal eGO…until it is gone Wisdom would not prevail. The show cases prevent the eGo from going to its source.

Yes, books block the way.

Hence the Vedic Rshies(Sages) tell those who approach them, “live with me, and observe me, let me study you, and then if we find the inner harmony together, I will reveal to you what I see in my vision.”

One person’s limitations may be another’s growth.

Precisely therefore, books, if prescribed by one’s revered Master, can function differently at a different level to a given seeker at a particular stage of growth. But a person with limitations ( which are not difficult for a Master to detect) will find the same book confusing, blocking.

The showcase displayed here may be compared to a Medical Store ( seeing which nobody dares to pick up an item with confidence for self-medication). Especially when practices are to be undertaken it is advised to receive the relevant Scripture directly from one’s Master as a blessing. Personally I have many such Texts which I do not lend out for obvious reasons.

Ananda, Buddha’s disciple, overheard the Master’s instructions and got confused. He rushed to Buddha after a while and asked him “how can it be so?”. “It is not meant for you”, was the Master’s reply.

Perhaps, “Is spirituality for sale?” seem to reflect “Is this also sold!?” whereas the second question and your further statement makes it clear that Books on Spirituality are meant by the first question (I stand to correction).

Hi Madhav,

I hope the question is not offensive. I posed it as I am wondering about some authors who may be turning spirituality into a commodity.

hi nellie, not offended. surely not. actually, sometimes we are not very sure, as to if, we really want a particular thing. and , hence, i wrote , what i wrote. actually when you really want any thing, it comes to you ….....free…without any strings attached. you don’t become spiritual, you live spiritually….day in and day out. our sleeping, walking , talking and every act , we can think of, turns out to be spiritual. mind you these acts flow out of you, and are certainly not a cloak, that you try to hide yourself under. and these come, once you start loving yourself.

I totally agree. I feel that true spiritually should come from the actions you have and the thoughts within yourself. However, it makes me think that if, by chance these books can encourage one to think openly and access their truly spiritually, is it really a commodity? Or is it a call to help others on their way?

Hi Madhav,

You hit the nail on the head when you say that “these come, once you start loving yourself”. Excellent response.

Thank you.

Hi everyone,

I would like to briefly share my views in this interesting discussion, being close to my heart.

Spirituality is not something that we attain, it is something that is already within us and we discover. Spirituality, the manifestation of that omnipresent supreme power working through each being from deep within, is the underlying essence pervading our consciousness, though the degree of its manifestation varies. Some realise it more strongly than others, while there are some who fail to realise it in their entire life time. The purpose of the intelligent life (human beings) is definitely the realisation of this underlying, all pervading self/divinity. Like to ignite fire, some external forces/aids are required, similarly, to help us realise our true nature/ that divinity that is one with our being, the books and such other media work as very useful means. Ofcourse, in the ultimate analysis and results, the individual’s own efforts would definitely matter.

Regards
